Craig Stevens is an experienced Barrister.

Craig has conjoint BA/LLB degrees from Victoria University of Wellington. 

For 28 years before joining Capital Chambers, he was a litigation partner with a major Australasian law firm. 

He undertakes a wide range of general civil and commercial, insurance and public law advice and litigation.  He frequently appears in all New Zealand civil courts, various Specialists Courts, Commissions, and Alternative Dispute Resolution fora.

Craig acts for a variety of public and private companies as well as local authorities.

For ~30 years he has been a New Zealand Law Society Litigation Skills faculty member, and (since 2005) an Advanced Litigation Skills faculty member, and part of the Expert Witness programme’s faculty. 

Outside of the law, in addition to family interests, he has been active in various community work.  For seven years he chaired the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation Board.  In 2022 he was awarded a Hunter Fellowship by Victoria University of Wellington for outstanding support of the goals pursued by the University.  Other organisations that he has been involved in include chair of the Roseneath School Board of Trustees, a committee member of the Wellington branch of the Resource Management Law Association and an honorary lawyer for Kapiti Environmental Action Inc.
